My tutoring approach is very much student-centred, this means that I am very adaptable to the needs of a student. However, my core philosophy is rooted in interaction between myself and the student - this includes conversational learning as well as student-led teaching. I also make an effort to get to know my students learning styles, so when they get stuck I know what tools I can use to help them. Whether that be visual aids, hands-on activities, or just a discussion. I also find review and reflection very impactful when it comes to learning which I implement reviews at the beginning and end of every session.

Firstly, taking and understanding the four ways in which we learn is, as I believe, essential to our learning process so understanding a students way of learning is critical, as well as having a proper understanding. Secondly, I would like to try to implement some games into the learning process to make it more engaging. Lastly, I am very open to honest feedback as I believe it can also help me grow as a tutor and help me help my students.

In a typical session, I begin by reviewing what we covered in our last session to refresh their memory and address any lingering questions. I then introduce new topics in a clear and simple way, breaking them down into smaller, manageable parts. Throughout the session, I encourage active participation by asking questions and providing immediate feedback. At the end of each session, I create quizzes based on the topics we've discussed, which helps me measure their progress and allows them to identify areas of growth before our next session

My goal is to help students feel confident and develop a love for learning from a young age, ensuring they do well in school while enjoying the process. By creating a friendly and supportive atmosphere, I aim to spark their interest in the subject and encourage a lifelong passion for learning.

Growing up with such a vast diversity of people, I understood the significance of individuality, whether it is students' characters, or learning methods, every aspect of a student contributes tremendously to their understanding, highlighting the importance of having a tailor-made tutoring program. Fundamentally, I am a big believer in active learning such as explaining concepts in students' own words, drawing mind maps and diagrams, being able to answer questions or applying knowledge to real-life scenarios. I am strongly convinced that this is the most effective way of learning, as well as the most meaningful approach as application of knowledge is what makes education worthwhile. From my previous tutoring experience, I have observed the interconnection between short term and long term memory, through practicing the method of review, revise and repeat, allowing students to vividly engrave knowledge for not only test taking but more so lifelong learning.

I think my greatest strength is my ability to personalise my teaching to the student. On one side, my strong academic background allows me to master all the topics, on the other side, the fact that I have recently graduated means I understand the student's point of view very well as I was in their shoes very recently. While I explain topics, I like to frequently check-in with the student to make sure he/she is understanding the explanations.

My tutoring approach is very personalized and tailored to each individual student. I understand that every student has a different learning style. From the very first lesson, I will try different learning approaches to find out how my student learns best. Then I will continue to teach in the way that is most effective for them. While learning is the top priority in my tutoring sessions, I also believe that learning can be made fun. Over my years of tutoring I have realized that making learning enjoyable is oftentimes a very effective tutoring strategy, which is why I try to make all lessons fun.

My tutoring approach changes depending on the student. There is no single approach to teaching every student, as they all think differently. However, something important that I keep in mind while tutoring is that I should be a supplement to the actual teacher of the course. My ultimate goal while tutoring is to help my student achieve independence and eventually be able to keep up with the course easily without me. Most student's issues arise with foundational material that is not covered in class and understanding of their teacher. I first try to figure out my students' way of thinking to be able to help them. Once we have established this and they are more comfortable with their current work, I begin to help them build a solid base of fundamental knowledge so that they will be able to learn their course material comfortably without me as soon as possible. If the student is currently not taking a class and I have the primary responsibility of teaching, I make sure to reduce memorization as much as possible. Instead, I emphasize understanding to ensure long-term success for the student.

My tutoring approach is very much tailored to each individual student. Everyone has a style that they like to learn with and I want to figure out that style first and foremost before we begin. Once we start tutoring I try and work using the style students like, whether it be showing a sample question and explaining how to solve it and letting them try it out or walking through step by step. Along with teaching the specified material, I teach techniques on how to approach new problems or topic so they can apply it to future work and subjects.

An important factor I always consider while teaching is making sure the student feels comfortable. This way it fosters a more positive learning environment, enhanced learning and more engagement with the subject.I strive to enhance the learning experience by making lessons more engaging and interactive, moving away from traditional lecturing methods. These activities include worksheets designed to stimulate critical thinking and interactive discussions all making sure that student fully comprehend the topics and concepts at hand.

I prioritize creating an open, supportive, and interactive learning environment with students to ensure that they feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and challenges. Recognizing that each student has unique learning strategies, I adapt my teaching approach (whether that means more problem-solving, lectures, or interactive-based learning, etc...) to best cater to their needs. I want to guide students toward the answer and make sure they fully understand the concepts, as opposed to pure memorization. I hope that students will eventually be able to talk through and teach these concepts themselves. Most importantly, I want to cultivate a love of learning and curiosity in any student I teach.

Having spent years in public speech and debate, I have learned that breaking an idea down to its simplest terms with multiple viewpoints is the most effective way to convey a message. Looking at something from one angle sometimes doesn't allow complete concept comprehension. Because of this, my go-to teaching style is coming up with many ways of explaining the same thing to maximize the chance of grasping an idea. Having multiple ways to view one topic opens the mind to a deeper understanding and a complete enrichment in learning. To promote this, I let the students do the thinking while prompting them in the right direction when needed. I adapt to how students think and fit my teaching style with their pace and problem-solving conventions. I tailor-make every lesson for every student. Ultimately, it is my goal to encourage my students to make a habit out of approaching problems through multiple, and perhaps even unconventional, methods to always keep trying new things.

I believe every student is different - and every lesson should be too. As such, my teaching is highly individualized; I utilize a combination of visual, written and auditory aids to effectively convey complex ideas. I specifically chose to be a TA for Advanced Algebra due to the challenge it gives me to explain complicated numbers and formulas in approachable ways for students with varying senses and strengths in numeracy and math. I understand that students have different levels of background knowledge, and I always quickly adapt to their level of knowledge and learning preferences. If possible, I always explain difficult concepts in numerous relatable ways and teach multiple approaches that students can use to tackle specifically difficult problems. Through being a swim instructor, I have adopted the teaching style of focusing on the small details in students' learning and making lessons fun and enjoyable.

While I understand that different students learn through different methods and speeds, I am a firm believer that consistent practice and interactive study is the best way to internalize concepts for future application. Throughout lessons, while I will lecture if needed, I prefer to work through problem sets, ask questions, and clarify understanding through practice rather than memorization. By this methodology, students are able to think on their feet when approached with an unforeseen problem or difficult concept. I think that one to one tutoring is a great opportunity to see difficult subjects in a new light, and ultimately, I aim to enrich curiosity and passion for learning in any student I teach.

I believe in a balanced approach between covering concepts and guided practice. I split my lessons into two, covering theory in the first portion and addressing student queries. In the second portion, I go through topical problems to test my student's understanding of the content. Additionally, I teach students how to structure their responses to get the best possible marks in exams. I believe it is important for students to continue practice outside of lessons, and, to this end, I give tailor-made problems as homework.
