About Me

Hello! My name is Beatrice and I'm a freshman at Tufts University. I genuinely love learning and want to share that with my students. I'm an avid baker and enjoy the creative process of whipping up delicious treats. I'm also passionate about gymnastics, golfing, and skiing - I find these active hobbies to be a great balance to my academic pursuits. I'm excited to be at Levitate as a tutor and share my knowledge and enthusiasm with students. Getting to know each student individually and helping them succeed is something I'm really looking forward to. Please let me know if you have any other questions, I'm happy to chat further!

Academic Qualifications

At HKIS, I have taken 5 AP Courses so far and have scored a 5 out of 5 in AP Chemistry, AP Biology, AP Environmental Science, AP Calculus AB, AP Psychology, AP Chinese and AP Human Geography, and a 4 in AP English Language and Composition. Beyond my APs, I also scored a 1550 (99th percentile) on the SAT. I have been awarded High Distinction in the ACS Chemistry Olympiad and the Chem 13 Olympiad, placing top 5 in Hong Kong.

Tutoring Experience

For the past two and a half years, I have served as a math tutor for middle and high school students at Stryv. In addition, I was an active member of the Chinese Tutoring Center at HKIS, where I provide Chinese language instruction to HKIS students. Last academic year, I have also taken on the role of Teaching Assistant for AP Chemistry, working closely with students to support their learning in this advanced course. Beyond my school-based tutoring work, I have tutored students ranging from grades 1-6 through the Homework Club at the American Club. Drawing on my experience as the oldest among my cousins and siblings, I have honed my skills in tailoring my teaching approach to different learning styles and age groups. Through these varied tutoring roles, I have developed a strong foundation in effectively supporting students' academic growth and success.

Tutoring Approach

In my tutoring sessions, I employ a friendly and personalized approach focused on active, hands-on learning. Rather than passive lecturing, I strive to engage students through interactive activities, real-world examples, and collaborative problem-solving. Drawing on my knowledge of child development and learning psychology gained from taking AP Psychology, I carefully tailor my teaching methods to the unique needs and learning styles of each student. For some, that may mean providing more visual aids and kinesthetic exercises, while for others, it involves breaking down concepts into manageable steps or incorporating their interests and hobbies. By taking the time to understand my students as individuals, I am able to create a comfortable, supportive environment where they feel empowered to actively participate, ask questions, and take ownership of their learning. Through this dynamic, student-centered approach, I aim to not only help students master the subject matter, but also cultivate their critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities, and overall academic confidence.
