I'm Adhit Ranjan, a Year 13 student at German Swiss International School. I've had a passion for STEM subjects and geography for a long time, and look forward to sharing that interest with others. Outside of academics, I'm a field hockey enthusiast, playing on Hong Kong's national team.
I've achieved top marks in exams, including a 45/45 IB Predicted Grade, 36/36 ACT, straight 5's on APs and 10 A*s in IGCSEs. I've been recognized as the SCMP Student of the Year, and have won the Hong Kong Outstanding Students Award.
I am familiar with not only subject content but also answering techniques for all of my subjects. Moreover, having pursued math and physics at the Olympiad-level, I am able to provide guidance outside of syllabi, and introduce students to more efficient ways of working. Leading my school’s mentorship program has taught me how to tailor lessons to meet individual needs. I taught 4 junior students (Year 7-9) math, physics and debate, and communicated clearly to address gaps in understanding.
I believe in a balanced approach between covering concepts and guided practice. I split my lessons into two, covering theory in the first portion and addressing student queries. In the second portion, I go through topical problems to test my student's understanding of the content. Additionally, I teach students how to structure their responses to get the best possible marks in exams. I believe it is important for students to continue practice outside of lessons, and, to this end, I give tailor-made problems as homework.
