About me
Asha is an HKIS Class of '23 alum, now a 3rd-year medical student specializing in Anaesthesia, Critical Care, and Pain Medicine at the University of Edinburgh, teaching a wide range of STEM subjects from IGCSE through AP level. She is passionate about making complex scientific concepts accessible and helping students build strong foundations across biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics. Outside her medical studies, she enjoys playing volleyball, going to the gym, and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen.
Qualifications
Asha earned perfect 5s across all 9 AP exams, including AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Physics 1 & 2, AP Calculus AB, AP Statistics, AP Psychology, and AP English Language and Composition, while maintaining a 4.0 unweighted GPA in her upperclassman years. In recognition of her academic excellence, she received both the Senior Science Scholar Award and the Rensselaer Medal Award from HKIS.
Experience
Asha has been a Stryv tutor since early 2023 and served as a peer tutor at HKIS Math & Science and Humanities Centres starting in her sophomore year, working one-on-one with middle and high school students. Additionally, she has been a teaching assistant and volleyball coach for the HKIS Summer Discovery Program for two consecutive years.
Teaching approach
Asha addresses gaps in course material using both school-provided and private resources, reinforcing concepts at later sessions for retention. To support this, she provides extension work or extra assistance depending on student needs.
