Gaile
Wesleyan University
Hi there! I'm Gaile. I am currently a sophomore at Wesleyan University, majoring in Chemistry and Earth and Environmental Sciences. I think that education should be a largely fulfilling pursuit instead of an obligation. I hope to communicate such sentiments to my tutees as I assist them with their subjects. Learning anything will inevitability present its own challenges, however I hope to work my tutees to be less intimated by such challenges, instead to feel intrigued by the unknown and find drive to learn.
Peter
Hong Kong International School
I'm a junior in Hong Kong International School, with a passion for psychology and history. Teaching English as a volunteer has sparked my interest in tutoring, and I hope to ignite the same passion within the students I teach, encouraging their academic growth and love of learning.
Alexis
Hong Kong International School
Hi, I'm Alexis, a senior at HKIS with a diverse set of academic and extracurricular interests. Academically, I'm very passionate about psychology and behavioral economics, fields that explore the complexities of human behavior. At school, I'm a leader of the SOS Aquatics service club and serve as the Senator of Athletics on the school's executive council. Both of these positions allow me to combine my love of the water with my desire to be involved in the school community. When I'm not studying or tutoring, I love swimming, doing something creative, and hanging out at the beach with friends.
Brigette
University of Hong Kong
I'm a second-year Economics & Finance student at the University of Hong Kong, in a dual degree program with Peking University where I will pursue Business Management. I grew up in Hong Kong but I am originally from New York. Outside of academics, I am an avid music and film enthusiast, and I also enjoy participating in case competitions and sports.
Wesley
Dartmouth College
I'm a passionate and dedicated educator with a strong academic background and a love for teaching. I specialize in Computer Science, Mathematics & Economics. I graduated from ACS Independent, achieving a perfect 45 Points in the IB Diploma exams, excelling in Higher Level Physics, Mathematics, and Economics. I also scored in the 99th percentile on the ACT, with a perfect score in ACT Writing. Currently, I am an undergraduate at Wesleyan University, studying Computer Engineering at Dartmouth College and Economics and Computer Science as a Freeman Asian Scholar.
My journey in education has been both rewarding and inspiring. I specialize in teaching Economics, Mathematics, and Theory of Knowledge (TOK) at the IGCSE and IB levels. Over the years, I've had the pleasure of teaching more than 30 students from various schools, including ACS Independent, ACS International, SOTA, SJI & SJI International, as well as students from countries like France, the US, Germany, and Ecuador. I believe in helping students grasp fundamental concepts rather than relying on rote memorization, and I structure my classes to facilitate deep understanding. Many of my students have seen significant improvements in their grades, often by at least 2 points.
In addition to teaching, I have gained valuable work experience in various roles, such as Product Management & Data Science at Treehouse Finance, Research Assistant at the privacy-tech-lab, and internships in investment analysis at Coinhako and Farquhar Capital. Outside of academics and work, I enjoy playing the piano and sharing my music through piano covers on YouTube. I'm always eager to connect with new students and help them achieve their academic goals while making learning an enjoyable and enriching experience.
Ellie
Columbia University
I'm a current B.A. candidate at Columbia University pursuing a double major in Art History and Economics. Growing up, I always loved art; whether it be making art or learning about it, I found a true passion for the visual language of our world. These days, I am continuing my passion for art through both scholarly education and professional endeavors. My other interests include practicing yoga, tasting wine (WSET certified sommelier), and lifelong learning.
Sande
Wesleyan University
I'm a third-year undergraduate at Wesleyan University, double majoring in the College of Social Studies (History, Economics, Social Theory, Government) and French Studies. I have always had a passion for exploring the connections between various disciplines. In particular, my love for History motivated me to pursue a rigorous interdisciplinary major while at Wesleyan. Outside of academics, I enjoy playing squash with friends!
Nadia
