Alexis
Hong Kong International School
Hi, I'm Alexis, a senior at HKIS with a diverse set of academic and extracurricular interests. Academically, I'm very passionate about psychology and behavioral economics, fields that explore the complexities of human behavior. At school, I'm a leader of the SOS Aquatics service club and serve as the Senator of Athletics on the school's executive council. Both of these positions allow me to combine my love of the water with my desire to be involved in the school community. When I'm not studying or tutoring, I love swimming, doing something creative, and hanging out at the beach with friends.

I believe actively engaging with students and tailoring my teaching approach to meet their individual needs is very important. I utilize interactive discussions, hands-on activities, and visual aids to make learning both enjoyable and relatable. As a TA for the HKIS Hum 1 in Action course, I have honed my ability to support students in their learning process and adapt to individual learning needs. Before each session, I gather information about their current and upcoming topics to ensure the student's preparedness. I recognize that students have different learning preferences, so I provide auditory learners with clear explanations and engage in meaningful discussions, while incorporating visual aids and mnemonic devices for those who benefit from them.

Tutoring Experience
As an experienced tutor, I've had the opportunity to work with students aged 7 to 12, including those learning in English as a second language. Over the past four years, I've provided tutoring in math and English, helping one student in particular gain admission to a prestigious school in Korea after tutoring them for a year and assisting with the admissions exam. My tutoring experience has also been enhanced by my involvement in the HKIS Humanities I in Action course, where I served as a teaching assistant. Thus, I am adept at catering to different learning styles and facilitating academic growth.
