About me
Evan is a Year 12 student at German Swiss International School who has studied Olympiad mathematics since elementary school, teaching IGCSE Math, Chemistry, and Biology to younger students. He is passionate about problem-solving and helping others develop strong mathematical foundations through his years of advanced training. Beyond academics, he brings a deep understanding of how to break down complex concepts into accessible steps.
Qualifications
Evan has earned Gold awards in the UKMT Senior and Intermediate Mathematical Challenges (2023–2024), qualified for the Hamilton and Cayley Rounds, and achieved Distinction in the UKMT Cayley Challenge. His mathematical excellence extends to placing in the top 33 of the Hong Kong Mathematics Kangaroo Contest and earning Distinction (73/75) in the CCC Junior Competition. Additionally, he qualified for the International Training in Olympiad Mathematics (ITOM) through HKAGE, completing IMO Phases 1–3, and participated in the prestigious Yau Mathematics Camp in Shanghai.
Experience
Evan has taught mathematics to students ages 7–10, building foundational skills in core mathematical concepts. Additionally, he has experience teaching English to children through various organizations.
Teaching approach
Evan reads over the curriculum and creates a timetable of planned lessons, starting with fundamental ideas before providing exercises and examples. Once basics are grasped, he introduces more challenging concepts while adapting to student preferences—some prefer drawings and objects, others formulae and numbers.
