About me
Clara is an HKIS alum and Master's student in Sustainable Development at Columbia University and Imperial College London, teaching English, French, Geography, and Environmental Science across IB, ACT, and humanities courses. Growing up bilingual in a French family while attending international schools for over 20 years, she is passionate about language, culture, and environmental issues. Outside academics, she enjoys running, hiking, and swimming, having swum competitively for 10 years.
Qualifications
Clara achieved 42/45 in the IB Diploma with perfect 7s in HL English Language & Literature, HL Geography, and HL Economics. She graduated from the dual B.A. program between Sciences Po and Columbia University in May 2025, where she majored in economics and sustainable development and was featured on the Dean's List all four semesters. Her essay was selected as a "Top 5 Commendable Essay" in the Royal Geographical Society & Financial Times essay competition (2021), and she will begin the MSc Climate Change, Management, Finance programme at Imperial College Business School in fall 2026.
Experience
Clara has been a Stryv tutor for 2 years, helping students succeed in intermediate French and Humanities with noticeable grade improvements and consistent top marks. She has experience across multiple education systems including French, AP, and IB curricula. Additionally, she was part of the first Humanities in Action and Humanities II in Action cohorts at HKIS in 2018.
Teaching approach
Clara adapts lessons to each student's level and identifies areas where they are struggling, holding French lessons entirely in the target language to improve listening comprehension and speaking practice simultaneously. For humanities subjects, she works collaboratively with students on formative and summative assessments, firmly believing that the key to success is learning how to interpret grading rubrics. Throughout sessions, she maintains a clear lesson focus by working on 1–2 skills at a time, whether research skills, organizing ideas, essay structure, or literary analysis.
