About me
Yee Huen is a senior pursuing the World Bachelor's in Business degree—a prestigious triple-degree program at USC, HKUST, and Bocconi University spanning Los Angeles, Hong Kong, and Milan—teaching IB Economics, English, and Mathematics. She is always friendly and open to sharing her diverse experiences living abroad and helping students navigate challenging coursework. In her free time, she enjoys writing and reading, and she always has a creative, fun side project to keep things interesting.
Qualifications
Yee Huen graduated with a 7 in IB Economics HL alongside 7s in Chemistry HL, Math AI HL, English Literature SL, and Visual Arts SL. Additionally, he scored 760 in Reading and Writing and 790 in Math on the SAT. His academic excellence has been recognized with Dean's List honors at both USC and HKUST, as well as the Derek Chu Memorial Cup for his work on female reproductive health in Nigeria.
Experience
Yee Huen has tutored students aged 10-18 for 5 years across Math, English, and IB Economics, helping students achieve 7s in both MYP and IB. Most notably, he successfully guided a student through the college application process, resulting in acceptances to multiple top-tier institutions including UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UCL, and HKU.
Teaching approach
Yee Huen believes in a tailored approach that identifies the root cause of each student's struggles—whether it's a lack of practice, difficulty grasping key concepts and thinking skills, or gaps in exam and studying strategies. To support this, he structures lessons depending on individual needs and the unique demands of each subject, building strong relationships with students as the foundation for effective tutoring.
