Tonia is a second-year astrophysics major at UCLA and former researcher at the Laboratory of Space Research at the University of Hong Kong. She loves learning about the mysteries of the universe through math and physics, and is an active member of the UCLA Astronomical Society. Outside academics, she is passionate about music, film photography, and playing soccer.
Tonia earned perfect 5s in AP Physics C (Mechanics and E&M), AP Calculus BC, and AP Statistics, alongside a 1540 SAT with 780 in Math. She received Head of School Commendation for maintaining a 4.0 GPA in junior year and currently holds a 3.9/4.0 GPA at UCLA.
Tonia has taught math, science, and English to students across grades 1–11 as a Stryv tutor, building experience across a wide range of age groups and subject levels. Additionally, she has led group teaching through UNICEF's Caritas program, where she taught English to underprivileged students.
Tonia focuses on core concepts of each topic, presenting them in a captivating manner that helps students make connections between subjects. This approach enables students to see the bigger picture and understand real-life applications across mathematics and physics.
