About me
Thomas is an HKIS and Bocconi University alumnus who studied Economics with a strong focus on mathematics and STEM subjects. As the founder of Stryv Academics, he teaches Mathematics, AP Economics, English, and French, and has worked with students of all ages. He is passionate about education and helping students excel across multiple subjects through his tutoring venture. Outside academics, he enjoys running, playing football, and chess.
Qualifications
Thomas scored 1510 on the SAT and earned perfect 5s across multiple AP exams, including AP Macroeconomics, AP Microeconomics, AP English Language, and AP French. In recognition of his outstanding academic performance, he received the Head of School Commendation at HKIS and was named an AP Scholar with Distinction. He graduated from Bocconi University with a degree in Economics.
Experience
Thomas is the founder of Stryv Academics and was the first-ever Teaching Assistant for AP Economics (Micro & Macro) at HKIS, where he led review sessions and created exam-focused practice materials. He has tutored primary through high school students in Mathematics, English, AP Economics, and AP Business, supporting students with coursework, exam preparation, study planning, and confidence-building. Additionally, he is experienced teaching both in-person and online.
Teaching approach
Thomas explains concepts using simple language and real-world examples before moving to targeted practice, creating structured weekly study plans with clear milestones and regular feedback. Throughout lessons, he emphasizes critical thinking and practical application, particularly in Economics and Business, while tailoring his approach to each student's learning style and academic goals. This method focuses on building long-term understanding, confidence, and independent learning skills.
