About me

Shloka is an HKIS Class of '24 graduate with a 4.0 GPA, now a 2nd-year Law student at University College London aspiring to become a commercial lawyer, teaching humanities, social sciences, and English across AP and IB levels. She is passionate about critical thinking, analysis, and helping students develop strong writing and argumentation skills. In her free time, she enjoys dance, reading, and going to the gym.

Qualifications

Shloka achieved a 4.0 GPA in junior and senior years with perfect 5s across all 10 AP exams, including AP Economics, AP English Language, and AP World History. In recognition of her academic excellence, she received the Humanities Department Award during her sophomore year.

Experience

Shloka has been a Humanities Centre Tutor at HKIS for 2 years, creating review sessions across Humanities subjects and AP courses, and served as leader of the tutoring centre for 1 year overseeing tutor training and all review sessions. Throughout this time, she has tutored high school and middle school students in subjects ranging from AP Economics to Geometry, both online and in-person. Additionally, she has coached students in public speaking, essay writing, and reading comprehension.

Teaching approach

Shloka creates structured session agendas, lesson plans, and comprehensive review notes to guide each session. She focuses on application-based questions over rote learning, pushing students out of their comfort zones to help them internalize information.
