About me
Shahab is a 4th-year student at the University of Hong Kong passionate about programming and AI, teaching mathematics, computer science, and STEM subjects across IGCSE, A-Level, and AP curricula. His love for video games and autonomous game characters led him down the rabbit hole of programming and eventually artificial intelligence, which he now makes approachable and practical for students. He particularly enjoys helping students experience the "aha!" moment when a difficult concept suddenly clicks. Outside academics, he enjoys playing video games, sim racing, and following Formula 1.
Qualifications
Shahab achieved six 9s in Cambridge IGCSE, including Mathematics, Computer Science, and Physics, and went on to earn four A*s at A-Level in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Computer Science, and Physics. He currently studies Applied Artificial Intelligence at HKU on a full-ride scholarship.
Experience
Shahab has 3 years of experience tutoring IGCSE and A-Level Computer Science and Mathematics to students in grades 8-12, with additional experience in AP curricula. Most recently, he helped a student improve from a C average to an A* in Cambridge AS Levels. Throughout this time, he has worked with students across multiple examination boards including IGCSE, A-Levels, and AP.
Teaching approach
Shahab focuses on understanding 'why,' not just memorizing steps, and creates custom practice problems tailored to each student's weak areas that mirror past paper complexity. His lesson structure begins with building conceptual understanding, continues with MCQ warm-ups, and progresses to solving past papers together interactively. To support long-term retention, he provides custom notes for revision and maintains a past paper-focused approach that prepares students for what to expect on exam day.
