About me
Mahi is a 3rd-year Environmental Science student at UCLA and GSIS alum, exploring the intersection between environment and entrepreneurship while teaching IB Biology, Economics, Math, and Literature. She is passionate about understanding the "why" behind what we learn, connecting scientific concepts to real-world applications across STEM and social sciences. Beyond academics, she enjoys cooking, exploring L.A. food culture, and sewing.
Qualifications
Mahi graduated with 42/45 in the IB Diploma, studying Biology HL, Economics HL, and Mathematics AA SL alongside Visual Art, English Literature, and German. She earned 11 A*s in her IGCSEs, including Biology, Economics, English Literature, and Mathematics (along with Further Pure Mathematics). Currently, she serves as a Dean's List scholar at UCLA and received the High School Academic Excellence Award.
Experience
Mahi has tutored middle and high school students in mathematics, biology, and economics, with additional experience as a teaching assistant for elementary students over 2 years teaching English literature, reading, and writing. She has also served as a volunteer mentor for introductory biology courses at university and provides guidance on university applications, offering feedback and proofreading for personal statements and essays.
Teaching approach
Mahi builds strong understanding of core concepts so students can confidently apply them in any context. She teaches interactively, encouraging questions, critical thinking, and working through problems together. To support this, she structures sessions around both tutor-created materials and resources students bring from their coursework.
