About me
Hossain is a 3rd-year Electrical Engineering student at Hong Kong Polytechnic University on a full-ride PolyU Entry Scholarship with a 3.53 WGPA, teaching IGCSE, A-Level, and AP subjects across mathematics, sciences, computer science, and economics. He is passionate about making complex STEM concepts accessible through hands-on, interactive learning and real-world applications, drawing from his experience in programming, robotics, and AI projects. As a STEM Education Specialist at Big Bang Academy and former Cambridge University Summer Scholar, he combines academic excellence with creative teaching methods that build both knowledge and confidence in students.
Qualifications
Hossain earned A*s in A-Level Mathematics and Physics, along with A*s in O-Level Mathematics, Additional Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Currently pursuing a BEng (Honors) in Electrical Engineering at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University with a 3.53 GPA, he was awarded the PolyU Entry 100% Scholarship (full tuition waiver) and selected for a fully-funded Engineering Summer Programme at the University of Cambridge, awarded to only 60 top students from PolyU.
Experience
Hossain has been conducting intensive private tutoring since September 2023, working with students across IGCSE, IB, DSE, and international school curricula in Mathematics, Additional Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, and Economics. His tutoring experience spans both exam preparation and coursework support for secondary students from diverse educational backgrounds, including local Hong Kong and international school students. Additionally, since August 2024, he has worked as an Educational Facilitator at Big Bang Academy, designing and delivering hands-on STEM lessons for younger students aged 5-7 at institutions like HKU and InnoCentre.
Teaching approach
Hossain uses a dual-device setup for online classes, screen-sharing on iPad to write and illustrate concepts in real-time while maintaining face-to-face connection, ensuring students visualize complex topics rather than passively listening. He breaks down each topic into logical components with step-by-step explanations that reveal the reasoning behind every concept, helping students understand not just "how" but "why." To support different learning preferences, he actively asks students about their preferred learning style, provides adequate time for note-taking during sessions, and shares detailed PDFs of everything written during class as comprehensive study materials. This approach is built on the principle that once students grasp the logic and reasoning behind a topic, retention becomes natural and effortless.
