About me
Diya is a freshman at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and a King George V School alum, teaching Mathematics and IB Economics after falling in love with these subjects during her own high school journey. She is passionate about helping students discover the same excitement she found in problem-solving and economic thinking. Outside academics, she volunteers at a local dog shelter and enjoys working out and going on hikes.
Qualifications
Diya graduated with 42/45 in the IB Diploma, scoring a 7 in HL Economics alongside 7s in HL Business and a 6 in HL Math AA. She is currently studying for a BBA at HKUST on a full first-year scholarship.
Experience
Diya has 2 years of experience tutoring Math and English to students in grades 1-6, along with 1 year tutoring English and Drama to younger children aged 3-6. Additionally, she has experience tutoring IB Economics.
Teaching approach
Diya uses the Feynman Technique where students explain concepts back to her in their own words to ensure deep understanding. She structures sessions with warm-ups, progressively harder questions, and ends with reviews and Q&A. When working with younger students, she adapts her approach to be more interactive and friendly while maintaining this core framework.
