About me

Darcy is a senior at Harvard College studying Social Studies with a secondary in Education, accepted to Harvard Law School through the Junior Deferral Program, and has directed an afterschool program for low-income students in Cambridge for three years. She is passionate about education policy, law, and politics, helping students understand standardized tests at a philosophical level rather than through rote practice. Beyond academics, she enjoys reading and writing, and is a proud Gold Award Girl Scout.

Qualifications

Darcy scored 1580 on the SAT (800 Reading, 780 Math) and earned perfect 5s across 9 AP exams, including AP Literature, AP Language and Composition, and AP Calculus BC. Her academic excellence was recognized as a National Merit Scholar Finalist, and she later earned the Detur Book Prize at Harvard—awarded to top sophomores—along with two years as a John Harvard Scholar for ranking in the top 5% of her class.

Experience

Darcy has 2 years of tutoring experience helping students increase their SAT scores by 100+ points through targeted instruction in Math, Reading, and Writing. Additionally, she has mentored several students through the college admissions process, leading to admittance at universities including UCLA.

Teaching approach

Darcy helps students take initiative in their own learning by teaching them to measure their progress and identify weaknesses, then customizes lessons based on those areas. To reinforce this approach, she encourages out-of-session learning through reading, vocabulary tracking, and test preparation, while incorporating "test conditions" practice to build exam readiness.
