About me
Christy is a recent South Island School graduate, now a 1st-year medical student at the University of Sydney passionate about healthcare, teaching IGCSE and IB sciences and humanities. She loves helping students build strong foundations in biology, chemistry, and psychology as they pursue their academic goals. Beyond her studies, she is an avid triathlete and volunteers as an assistant sports coach for younger children and in elderly service.
Qualifications
Christy achieved a perfect 45/45 in the IB Diploma, scoring 7s in HL Biology, HL Chemistry, and HL Psychology, as well as SL English Language and Literature. In recognition of her exceptional academic performance, she received the ESF Chairman's Award for Excellence. She currently serves as a Dalyell Scholar at the University of Sydney.
Experience
Christy has experience providing private tutoring across various ages and levels, with subjects ranging from primary-level maths to IGCSE science, psychology, and IB English. Additionally, she is fluent in English and Mandarin, allowing her to support students in both languages.
Teaching approach
Christy tackles the root cause of student's trouble with specific concepts, using analogies and step-by-step explanations to simplify complex information. Once fundamentals are covered, she shifts to structured exam response practice to build application skills. To reinforce learning, she summarizes key takeaways at the end of each session and assigns small, focused practice tasks or homework when needed.
