Tutoring Experience

As a dedicated peer tutor at the Hong Kong International School (HKIS) Math and Science Center from 10th to 12th grade, I developed substantial teaching expertise in a peer-to-peer setting. My specialization primarily lies in high school-level science, specifically Honors Chemistry and Honors Biology, where I regularly provided support to multiple students. Beyond the MSC, I extended my tutoring services to family friends, teaching Algebra and Humanities. My experience encompasses adapting teaching methods to suit diverse learning styles, including visual and auditory approaches, for students ranging from middle school to high school ages. A key achievement has been consistently improving student comprehension and performance in challenging subjects, specifically with problem solving skills and test taking skills.

Tutoring Approach

My teaching philosophy centers on equipping students with crucial test-taking and problem-solving skills. I engage students by helping them decipher teacher expectations and understand how to effectively present their work for maximum academic impact. Sessions are structured to move from foundational understanding to strategic application, ensuring students not only grasp concepts but also master the art of approaching and answering questions clearly and comprehensively, which builds confidence and ensures retention. I ensure that I meet the student where they're at, trying out different teaching styles until we find one that works best for the student.
