About Me

Hi! My name is Anthony Mang, and I’m currently a freshman at Hong Kong International School. I’m extremely passioante about tutoring, and my strongest subjects are Math, Chinese, and English. Outside of tutoring and academics, I enjoy playing volleyball, café hopping, or watching netflix series. Excited to see you soon!

Academic Qualifications

In my main subjects, Math, Chinese, and English, I have gained significant achievements such as winning Honor Roll (top 5%) in the AMC8, winning second place in Mathcounts Chapter Round, and also constantly being in the highest Chinese stream previously in my school, which gained me crucial expertise for my tutoring. Additionally, in school, I am currently participating in Honors Math and Science classes and pursuing the highest-level courses available to freshmen. In these classes, I have also achieved As or A-s, proving my academic ability to succeed in challenging classes.

Tutoring Experience

Aside from being the person my friends go to when struggling with subjects, I have formal tutoring experience, too. Firstly, I was recently accepted to our school’s Chinese Tutoring Center. I currently tutor a student once weekly, reviewing content with him and preparing him for exams. Furthermore, by being an active ambassador for various service organizations that tutor underprivileged children (e.g. Math or English), I have gained experience working with children of different age groups (5-14).

Tutoring Approach

I deeply believe that each student has their own learning style. Therefore, in my tutoring, I emphasize flexibility and adjusting to each student’s unique ways of learning. Through my tutoring, I aim to support students’ learning through unique methods such as interactive games, imaginary conversations for Chinese classes, and any other method that the student finds helpful. I hope to make all sessions fun, as from my own experience, I know that students learn best when they truly enjoy the content and have fun. A typical session with me would include the learning of the concepts, but also including creative applications of those concepts, such as in an interactive game.
