Recapping Our College Admissions Webinar with Panelists from Oxford, Princeton, and Yale

I had the pleasure of moderating our recent webinar, "How to Get into Your Dream University”. This session was particularly special as it brought together three brilliant panelists, each of whom brought unique perspectives to the complex world of college admissions.

Tina Chou, a senior at the University of Oxford, delved into the nuances of applying to UK universities, emphasizing the intense focus on academic prowess and specialized interests required by institutions like Oxford. Her story about adapting her application to highlight her in-depth knowledge in Chemistry illustrated the level of detail and preparation needed for success.

Cole Crosby from Princeton University highlighted the strategic approach to essay writing that helped him stand out. He shared a personal anecdote about how he connected his experiences living abroad to the diversity and global awareness he could bring to the university, demonstrating the effectiveness of weaving personal narratives into application essays to capture the attention of admissions committees.

Nicholas Yee of Yale University provided insightful tips on preparing for the college application process, emphasizing the importance of starting early. He spoke about his own experiences with balancing academics and extracurriculars, stressing that proactive planning can significantly ease the stress of application deadlines. His approach to maintaining strong grades while engaging deeply in extracurricular activities like debate and community service provided a practical framework for attendees to consider.
